Hainewalde (dpa/sn) - A 64-year-old driver died after a collision with a tractor in Hainewalde in the Görlitz district. His two granddaughters, aged two and twelve, were in the car - they were slightly injured in the accident, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. The 64-year-old died at the scene of the accident on Tuesday evening.
The man was driving his car on a district road in the direction of Hainewalde when, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, it got into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor. The 31-year-old tractor driver suffered minor injuries in the collision. According to the police, there was property damage of around 50,000 euros. The investigation is ongoing and the police are looking for witnesses.
