Colditz (dpa / sn) - In a fire in a two-family house in Colditz (Leipzig district), several people were injured - one of them seriously. The police said there was a deflagration in the kitchen of the ground floor apartment on Sunday morning. The entire first floor of the house caught fire. Courageous first responders rescued the four residents from the flames. They were all taken to the hospital.

Three of the residents, a 63- and an 83-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man, were treated on an outpatient basis for suspected smoke inhalation. The fourth resident, an 83-year-old man, suffered severe burn injuries and is therefore being treated as an inpatient. According to initial estimates, damage to the house was around 100,000 euros. It is currently not habitable. The road was closed for several hours to extinguish the fire.
