Leipzig (dpa/sn) - Customs arrived in Leipzig and the surrounding area on Wednesday to carry out checks against undeclared work. More than 300 officials were deployed, the main customs office in Dresden announced in the evening. The Saxony State Criminal Police Office, the Leipzig police, the tax investigation and the trade office as well as the federal police supported the operation. Shops and gastronomic establishments in the area of ​​Leipzig Eisenbahnstraße in particular were checked.

In some cases, employees could not produce a valid work permit. In addition, the customs officials found, among other things, violations of the Residence Act and the minimum wage regulations. Exact numbers were not initially given. In total, more than 70 people were questioned about their working conditions during the campaign in and around Leipzig.
