Saxony-Anhalt: 174,000 people in Saxony-Anhalt have a disability card

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, 173,930 people have a valid disability card. The House of Social Affairs Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) called these numbers with reference to the state administration office on request. Most of them had a degree of disability (GdB) of 50, that was a total of 61,331 women and men as of June 30th. The GdB quantifies the severity of a disability.

25,503 people had a degree of disability of 60. In category 70 there were 17,298 people, in GdB 80 there were 24,959. 8,090 people had a GdB 90, and a total of 36,749 women and men had a degree of disability of 100.

Not all people with disabilities are also registered as severely disabled people. "Reasons can be of various natures," said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Social Affairs. Some people did not apply for the severely disabled pass. There are also people who are actually disabled but do not consider their disability to be a disability.
