The working group "Stolpersteine ​​für Magdeburg" announced that relatives from the USA and Israel were also present at the action on Wednesday at various locations in the city.

According to the organizers, the stones were embedded in the sidewalks - in the places where the former homes of the Nazi victims stood or partially still stand. It is always the last known address of the respective person. Biographical information, which was sometimes extensively researched, was read out for each person. Flowers were laid and a minute's silence followed.

Stumbling stones are paving stones with a brass plate engraved with the life dates of Jewish citizens and other victims of the Nazi rulers. They are intended to commemorate the victims of the Nazi regime. The project by the artist Gunter Demnig is considered the largest decentralized memorial in the world. Since 1996, the stones have been laid in the street or sidewalk in front of the victims' former homes. According to the information, they are located in hundreds of German municipalities and in more than 20 European countries.
