Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Last year, ten people in Saxony-Anhalt received compensation for pre-trial detention that subsequently turned out to be unjustified. For a total of 1208 days, those affected were paid a total of 38,050 euros in compensation, the Ministry of Justice in Magdeburg said on request. In 2020, compensation for imprisonment amounting to 11,550 euros was paid. According to the ministry, however, no trend can be derived from this, because in the fourth quarter of 2020 the federal legislature increased the sum from 25 euros per day to 75 euros. Figures for the current year are not yet available.
