Saxony-Anhalt: 60 million euros for district roads

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's districts and urban districts will receive 60 million euros for investments in district roads. The Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday in Magdeburg that the additional funds could be used for new construction, conversions and expansions and for investment maintenance measures on the roads. The 60 million euros would be distributed according to the length of the streets and paid out on Wednesday.

The district of Börde will receive around 8.2 million euros, the Altmark district of Salzwedel around 7.06 million euros and the district of Stendal a good 6.5 million euros. The independent cities of Halle, Magdeburg and Dessau-Roßlau can count on sums between almost 180,000 and around 491,000 euros.

Finance Minister Michael Richter (CDU) explained: "Efficient infrastructure is a basic requirement for the development of rural areas. The additional state funds for district roads help to implement urgently needed investments."
