Saxony-Anhalt: 6.3% of foods with pathogenic microorganisms

Halle (dpa/sa) - The State Office for Consumer Protection in Saxony-Anhalt examined 4,825 food samples for pathogens last year. Pathogenic microorganisms were detected in 304 samples, as the authority announced in Halle on Tuesday. That corresponded to a share of 6.3 percent. Most of these products are not intended to be eaten raw, so that a health hazard is ruled out by sufficient heating for at least two minutes at a core temperature of more than 70 degrees and good kitchen hygiene. According to the office, 15 samples were found to be harmful.
