Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The ADAC in Saxony-Anhalt warns of crowded roads and traffic jams on Ascension Day. An ADAC spokeswoman said on Tuesday that there was already an increase in traffic on Wednesday afternoon. Experience has shown that the public holiday and the bridging day were particularly popular with short vacationers.
According to the spokeswoman, the Ascension weekend is one of the busiest of the year. In particular, the construction sites on the A9 and A36 caused traffic jams. The A2 near Magdeburg and the A14 near Halle are also viewed with concern. The return traffic then runs from Sunday noon and can cause disabilities until the evening hours, according to the ADAC spokeswoman.
