Saxony-Anhalt: ADAC: State brings up the rear nationwide when it comes to driver knowledge

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The ADAC certifies that drivers in Saxony-Anhalt have serious knowledge gaps. In the nationwide survey "Autofahrerwissen 2022", the state did the worst in Germany, as the automobile club announced on Thursday. Respondents had to answer 20 test questions from the catalog of the theoretical driving test.

Respondents in Saxony-Anhalt were able to answer only 9.0 correctly on average. Nationwide it was 9.7. And while nationwide only two percent of those questioned got 80 percent of the questions right, in Saxony-Anhalt it was only one percent.

When asked about the zipper procedure (21 percent) and the distance when overtaking pedestrians and cyclists (29 percent), Saxony-Anhalt is just below the national average of 25 and 32 percent, respectively. In many other questions, the state performs rather poorly in a national comparison and is in last place. These included questions about reducing blood alcohol levels or turning left.

The ADAC rated it as "particularly worrying" that those who rated their driving knowledge as particularly good did worse in the test. The Automobile Club recommends regularly refreshing your knowledge of traffic rules, also because they are always changing.
