Saxony-Anhalt: Akos Doma will be town clerk in Magdeburg in 2023

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The Hungarian-born writer Akos Doma will be city clerk in Magdeburg next year. The 59-year-old will take office on April 1, 2023 and will succeed Katja Hensel, as the state capital announced on Friday. Doma, who lives in Eichstätt, prevailed against 26 competitors. He wants to get involved in the cultural life of the state capital and write a new novel. In addition, Doma wanted to deal with the history of Magdeburg and in particular with the work of the writer Karl Immermann, who was born in Magdeburg in 1796. He is also planning literary writing workshops in schools.

Magdeburg has been awarding a city clerk scholarship every year since 2013. The town clerks will live and work in Magdeburg from April 1st to October 31st and use artistic means to reflect on the town's past and present. You will receive 1200 euros per month and a rent-free apartment.
