Halle (dpa/sa) - The police inspection in Halle has a new boss. Annett Wernicke (47) was appointed Director of the Authority by Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU), a spokeswoman said on Tuesday. Wernicke most recently headed the police station in the city. In her new post, she succeeds Mario Schwan, who has moved to the Interior Ministry in Magdeburg as state police director and head of department. The Halle Police Inspectorate is responsible for around 730,000 people in southern Saxony-Anhalt.

Wernicke was born in Wippra (Mansfeld-Südharz district). According to the information, she began her police career in 1995. Since then she has held various positions with the state police - from patrol duty to the criminal police to project work in the Ministry of the Interior.
