Bernburg (dpa/sa) - Another case of avian influenza has been detected in the Salzland district. The disease was officially diagnosed in a breeding animal from a poultry farmer in Biendorf on Wednesday, said a spokesman for the district. The breeder's remaining poultry were then killed. According to the district, a stable obligation should not be ordered.
Avian influenza is a viral disease that is highly contagious for domestic poultry and, according to the district administration, causes increased deaths in the animals. Some variants of the avian influenza virus can also be transmitted to other animals and humans in individual cases.
