Saxony-Anhalt: Bahn puts the Dessau-Roßlau railway junction into operation

Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) - Deutsche Bahn will put the modernized Dessau-Roßlau railway junction into operation on Monday (2 p.m.). The Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Michael Theurer, and Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Infrastructure, Lydia Hüskeny (FDP), are to take part in the ceremony, according to Deutsche Bahn. Since 1996, Deutsche Bahn has designed the railway junction in several construction phases into a modern and efficient traffic junction. The interface is therefore particularly important for the goods traffic corridors Benelux-North Sea ports-Magdeburg-Eastern Europe and Frankfurt (Oder)-Berlin-Halle/Leipzig. The federal government, Saxony-Anhalt and the railways invested around 450 million euros.
