Halberstadt (dpa/sa) - Cable thieves cut the cable of a main line in Halberstadt in the Harz district and paralyzed the power supply in parts of the city for more than ten hours. In addition to private households, a hospital, companies and transport facilities were also affected, the police said on Thursday. The unknown perpetrators broke into a building of the municipal utility company around 2 a.m. on Wednesday night to steal cables. There was a short circuit. The investigation was ongoing, it said. The amount of the total damage was initially unclear, according to the police.
