Halle (dpa/sa) - In relation to the number of inhabitants, there are fewer cars in Saxony-Anhalt than the national average. On January 1, 2022, 560 cars per 1000 inhabitants were registered in the state, the State Statistical Office in Halle announced on Tuesday. In the federal government, the average was 584 cars per 1,000 inhabitants. Within Saxony-Anhalt, the car density was highest in the Saale district with 629 and in the district of Börde with 627 cars per 1000 inhabitants. It was lowest in Halle with 403 and in the state capital Magdeburg with 476 cars.

The number of passenger cars registered in Saxony-Anhalt was around 1.22 million, and that of trucks at a good 116,000. In addition, just over 103,000 motorcycles were registered in Saxony-Anhalt.
