Gräfenhainichen (dpa/sa) - More than 1000 caravan fans have gathered in Ferropolis for the "Vanlife" festival. It is taking place for the second time. In total, around 600 vans and caravans are expected this time, said a spokeswoman for the venue. The program from Friday to Sunday includes workshops on the subject of "living in a van" as well as entertainment for children and adults.
Today, the Ferropolis site in the eastern part of Saxony-Anhalt is not only a festival location, but also an open-air museum. In the event arena of Ferropolis - also known as the city of iron - three disused opencast mining excavators and two stackers have served as a backdrop for concerts since the Expo 2000 world exhibition. The devices weigh several hundred tons and are up to 30 meters high.
