Saxony-Anhalt: catching up after Corona: learning camps for schoolchildren during the holidays

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, schoolchildren should be able to attend learning camps again this summer in order to catch up on learning deficits from the Corona period. The adult education centers and other providers of adult education should provide content-related support. Education Minister Eva Feußner (CDU), the State Association of Adult Education Centers in Saxony-Anhalt and the Association for Adult Education signed a corresponding framework agreement on cooperation on Thursday.

"The time of the pandemic with its extensive side effects was and is a major challenge. I am aware that despite the high level of commitment and commitment of the teachers and parents, not all students were able to learn and develop their skills equally successfully," explained Feußner.

There were already learning camps in Saxony-Anhalt during the 2021 summer holidays. This project is now to be expanded. There should be four teaching units per day, primarily in the core subjects, with leisure activities in the afternoons. The federal government decided on the "Catching up after Corona for children and young people" action program last year and made the appropriate funds available.
