Saxony-Anhalt: CDU parliamentary group: Set up a commission on broadcasting in the state parliament

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In the course of the debate on reforms in public service broadcasting, the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt is pushing for the establishment of an inquiry commission in parliament. There is a cross-party discussion about this, said CDU faction leader Guido Heuer on Wednesday in Magdeburg. The aim is to set up the commission in December or January.

The CDU in Saxony-Anhalt has been calling for reforms in broadcasting for ten years, Heuer said. WDR director Tom Buhrow has now also commented on this. "We will accompany this process and will make suggestions as to what public service broadcasting could look like in the future."

WDR director Tom Buhrow had recently - expressly not in his function as ARD chairman - suggested a major fundamental broadcasting reform and a new social contract. Speaking to the Übersee-Club, which regularly invites high-ranking representatives from numerous industries, Buhrow said: "My firm impression is that Germany doesn't seem to want us to the same extent in ten years - and also doesn't want to finance it like it does today."
