Saxony-Anhalt: Chamber of Crafts: Relief package "rather a disappointment"

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The chamber of crafts in northern Saxony-Anhalt considers the federal government's announced relief package to be insufficient. "The relief package is more of a disappointment for our craft businesses," said Hagen Mauer, President of the Magdeburg Chamber of Crafts. There is a risk that many companies will run out of breath before the promised relief takes effect.

"The government has provided comprehensive direct emergency hardship aid for all groups in society, but not for particularly affected energy-intensive companies," said Mauer. Much more direct and faster support for the companies would have been needed here.

At the weekend, the coalition agreed on a third relief package to cushion the rise in energy prices. The government puts it at around 65 billion euros. Among other things, direct payments for pensioners and students, tax breaks and an increase in the standard rates for basic security and child benefit are planned. It is also planned that a lower price should apply for basic electricity consumption.
