Werthau (dpa/sa) - During a chase in the Burgenland district, a 22-year-old man shot the police several times with a pistol. The man from Cologne drove away from a normal traffic check in Werthau (Burgenlandkreis) early on Friday morning, the police said. On his half-hour flight, he is said to have driven back and forth through the villages in the Burgenland district and shot several times at the police car following him.
After further emergency services were requested, the man was finally stopped in Lonzig (Burgenlandkreis). The arrest revealed that the driver's weapon was a pistol. The man is said to have been under the influence of drugs, according to police. Nobody was injured in the chase.
