Diesdorf (dpa/sa) - A 78-year-old cyclist died in a traffic accident near Diesdorf (Altmarkkreis Salzwedel). As the police announced on Wednesday, a car that was driving behind the man on the road to Schadewohl on Tuesday evening collided with the cyclist. As a result of the collision, he was thrown several meters onto a green strip. Despite rescue attempts by first responders and emergency services, the cyclist succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The 30-year-old driver was not injured.
A breath alcohol test showed a value of more than 1.5 per thousand. The man has lost his driver's license for the time being, and the police are now investigating exactly how the accident happened.
