Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - A commercial building caught fire in an industrial area in Magdeburg on Saturday evening, but no one was injured. The fire brigade was alerted and called to the 20 by 30 meter hall near the Elbe, the Office for Fire Protection, Rescue Services and Disaster Management announced on Sunday. When the rescue workers arrived, the roof structure was already on fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished using a turntable ladder. A lack of water supply on site caused problems, but these could have been solved by a shuttle service with fire engines. A total of 28 rescue workers were deployed. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were initially unclear.
