Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence falls in Saxony-Anhalt in a weekly comparison

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the corona incidence has fallen slightly in a weekly comparison. According to the overview of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday, 485.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered within seven days. A week earlier, the reading was 494.7. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 630.4 (previous week: 740.3).

Nationwide, the RKI shows the highest incidence for the city of Halle with 692.0, followed by the district of Mansfeld-Südharz with a value of 609.6. According to the information, the value is currently lowest at 343.8 in the district of Wittenberg.

However, the seven-day incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, 788,508 infections have been registered nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic. The statistics show a total of 5474 corona deaths in the country. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.17 million inhabitants.
