Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt continues to decrease

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The registered corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has continued to fall. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Wednesday as 177.1 - after 190.4 the day before. According to the RKI, the incidence nationwide on Wednesday was 281.8.

However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health authorities report their data on a daily basis, especially at the weekend and at the beginning of the week there can be a delay.

Within Saxony-Anhalt, the RKI reported the highest seven-day incidence for the city of Halle at 222.4 on Wednesday. The district of Wittenberg, on the other hand, recorded the lowest value in the country (125.6). Nationwide, 821 new Covid-19 cases were reported, with no further deaths related to the virus. According to the RKI, 5,338 people in Saxony-Anhalt have died with or from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
