Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has fallen again

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the number of registered new infections with the corona virus has fallen again within a week per 100,000 inhabitants. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a seven-day incidence of 228.2 on Thursday. A week ago the value was 242.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, two weeks ago it was 194.5. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 214.2 (previous week: 201.9).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

The health authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have reported more than 931,456 infections to the RKI since the beginning of the pandemic, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. 6060 deaths related to the corona virus were recorded. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.

Meanwhile, the state government decided that from December 8th in Saxony-Anhalt, masks would no longer have to be worn on buses and trains in local public transport. At the same time, the rules of the Federal Infection Protection Act continue to apply - among other things, it provides for a mask requirement on long-distance trains.
