Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has fallen

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has dropped significantly within a week. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) registered 193.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the country for the past seven days, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. A week earlier, the incidence was 263.9 with a downward trend. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 199.2. However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, 916,244 infections have been registered nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic. The statistics show a total of 5981 deaths in connection with a corona infection in the country. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.17 million inhabitants.
