Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence increased in a weekly comparison

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The number of registered new corona infections in Saxony-Anhalt has increased compared to the previous week. According to the overview of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday, 239.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered within seven days. A week earlier, the value was 184.4. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence reached 244.4 on Thursday (previous week: 223.1).

However, the information does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

The registered incidence of infection differs significantly in the districts in Saxony-Anhalt. The RKI gave the highest incidences nationwide for the Mansfeld-Südharz district with 362.0 and the city of Halle with 324.2. The lowest values were reported for the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and Wittenberg - each with 163.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week.

According to the RKI, 830,399 infections have been registered nationwide since the beginning of the pandemic. The statistics show a total of 5688 deaths in connection with a corona infection in the country. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.17 million inhabitants.
