Saxony-Anhalt: Corporate insolvencies in Saxony-Anhalt are picking up again

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Despite the Corona crisis, corporate insolvencies in Saxony-Anhalt have been relatively low for a long time, also thanks to state aid - but this trend seems to be turning. The number of insolvent companies in the country has increased again this year, according to an analysis by the credit agency Creditreform, which was published on Tuesday. According to this, there were 55 insolvencies for every 10,000 companies in Saxony-Anhalt, six more than in the previous year.

"The state aid measures have prevented an increase in the number of insolvencies in recent years," said Creditreform. "And what's more, they led to a paradoxical decrease in cases." The energy crisis could now ensure that these numbers normalize again. Creditreform had repeatedly warned that state aid was artificially keeping "zombie companies" alive.

For the first time since the economic crisis of 2009, the credit agency is anticipating an increasing number of company bankruptcies nationwide. According to Creditreform estimates, around 14,700 companies will have gone before the insolvency court by the end of the current year. According to calculations by the credit agency, that would be around four percent more than in 2021.
