Saxony-Anhalt: Court of Auditors looks at the state's personnel costs

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt affords more state personnel than the other non-city states in Germany. This is the result of an audit by the State Audit Office. President Kay Barthel (CDU) wants to present the results on Thursday in Magdeburg.

According to the examiners, Saxony-Anhalt is currently missing the self-imposed target of 18.7 full-time jobs per 1000 inhabitants. The authority criticizes the fact that the scope for design in the state budget continues to decrease due to the high personnel costs. In the meantime, these would make up around 30 percent of the budget, it said.

In addition, the state audit office wants to present further selected audit results on budget and economic management. Among other things, the employees took a close look at the promotion of school camps.

Another issue is the so-called water withdrawal fee. The special levy is due, for example, when groundwater is extracted. The amount of this fee must be adjusted, the auditors demand.
