Halle (dpa/sa) - At the University Hospital in Halle, a patient is said to have almost missed an important operation - if police officers hadn't rung the bell in the middle of the night. On the night of Tuesday, an urgently needed donor organ was unexpectedly available for the man, the police said. Because hospital employees could not reach the man by phone, the clinic turned to the police. The officials then collected the man from his apartment in Halle-Neustadt and drove him to the clinic, it said on Tuesday. When asked, it was not known how the operation ultimately went.
