Halle (dpa/sa) - The increase in industrial sales in Saxony-Anhalt continues. In the second quarter, the 623 companies in the industry generated total sales of 14 billion euros, 45.9 percent more than in the same period last year, the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Halle. In the first quarter the increase was 39 percent. It was said that the reason for this was rising prices.
According to the information, domestic sales from April to June were 9.3 billion euros (up 46 percent) and sales abroad were 4.8 billion euros (up 45.7 percent). According to the announcement, the statistics include the turnover of companies in the processing industry, in mining and in the quarrying of stone and earth. The number of people working there increased by 1.6 percent to around 108,000 in the second quarter compared to the previous year.
