Saxony-Anhalt: Due to the cancellation of classes: 12,000 gaps in certificates

Halle (dpa/sa) - Thousands of students in Saxony-Anhalt did not get a grade in the past school year due to missed hours in at least one subject. Accordingly, there are almost 12,000 gaps in the certificates, the Ministry of Education announced on Friday. According to a ministry spokeswoman, these are not head counts, but missing grades. A student can therefore have several gaps on the report card. The "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" reported first.

According to the ministry, primary and secondary schools are particularly affected. Here, in around 2000 cases, notes were missing in music. The subjects of value-based teaching, chemistry and physics are also severely affected. Compared to the previous year, however, the number of blanks on the certificates fell significantly by 8,000. And that despite the fact that, according to the Ministry of Education, there was an average teaching coverage of only 92 percent.
