Saxony-Anhalt: Energy saving: Cabinet wants to decide on measures

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's state government wants to decide on energy-saving measures on Tuesday. At an energy summit in the State Chancellery two weeks ago, the temporary closure of government offices, lowering the room temperature and the more economical use of company vehicles were discussed. Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) wants to present concrete results on Tuesday afternoon.

The CDU politician recently announced that he would voluntarily slow down his company car to save energy. According to a government spokesman, he can only be driven on the motorway at a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Haseloff is sticking to a guideline that has recently applied to all employees of the State Chancellery. Company cars should generally not be driven faster than 130 km/h. In addition, the Prime Minister had recently pushed for more help from the federal government. According to Haseloff, the state and local authorities would not be able to tackle the energy crisis on their own.
