Saxony-Anhalt: EUR 30,000 property damage in a straw bale fire

Gardelegen (dpa/sa) - About 990 straw bales caught fire in Gardelegen (Altmarkkreis Salzwedel) on Monday afternoon. This resulted in property damage of around 30,000 euros, as the police announced on Tuesday. A 15-year-old discovered the fire while cycling past and alerted the fire brigade. It took several hours for volunteer firefighters to completely extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was still unclear.
