Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Four Saxony-Anhalters have received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany from Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU). Among other things, the 59-year-old doctor and entrepreneur Clemens Ritter Kempski von Rakoszyn from Stolberg received the highest state recognition for his services to economic development in the southern Harz region and his diverse voluntary commitment, as the State Chancellery announced on Monday. He attaches particular importance to sustainability both in the management of his forest areas and in his hotels.

The former District Administrator Harri Reiche (69) was honored for his commitment to local politics and his services to the development of the Burgenland district, it said.

As a professor of dermatology and venereology, Wolfgang Marsch (73) headed the corresponding university clinic and polyclinic at the University Clinic in Halle and helped with the restructuring and development of the medical faculty. According to the State Chancellery, he was honored with the Cross of Merit with Ribbon for this and for further commitment.

62-year-old Andreas Siegert received the Medal of Merit for his many years of commitment to the integration of migrants. According to the State Chancellery, the employee at the Halle Social Research Center has initiated numerous projects to recruit skilled workers and strengthen structurally weak areas. In 2016 he helped rescue refugees in distress in the Mediterranean Sea.
