Gardelegen (dpa/sa) - A fire in a family home in Gardelegen caused property damage of over 200,000 euros. According to the police, the cause was a lightning strike. The 34-year-old owner was woken up by a loud bang early Friday morning, after which he found a burning socket in the house, police said. The owner then left the building with his wife and one-year-old son and alerted the fire brigade. The fire brigade was on site with 5 emergency vehicles and 20 emergency services. The house is no longer habitable, the family initially stayed with relatives.
