Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The self-employed and tradespeople who pay their income tax in advance will receive mail from the tax office in the next few days about the forthcoming payment of the energy price flat rate. This was announced by the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Finance on Friday. The tax offices would offset the lump sum of 300 euros once against the income tax prepayment for the third quarter on September 10, 2022. The authorities will send out new notifications for this purpose. "An application is not required."
The energy price flat rate is part of the tax relief law, in which the legislator has decided on several relief measures. According to the Bundesverband Lohnsteuerhilfevereine (BVL), all actively employed persons are eligible. This includes workers, employees, civil servants, trainees, working students, students doing paid internships and mini-jobbers who are resident in Germany.
"According to the specifications of the federal government, citizens who only receive other income - such as pensions or pension payments - are not entitled to claim," said the Ministry of Finance. For employees, the energy price flat rate of 300 euros will be paid once in September with their salary. The amount intended to compensate for increased energy prices is taxable.
