Halle (dpa/sa) - According to statistics, full-time employees in Saxony-Anhalt earned more in 2021 than in the previous year. However, the median monthly gross salary was still below the national level. At the same time, there are differences in earnings depending on the industry and profession. As the regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency announced on Monday, according to the wage statistics, full-time employees subject to social security contributions in Saxony-Anhalt earned a median of 2855 euros gross per month in December 2021. That was 101 euros more than in the previous year (December 2020: 2754 euros).

The median income is not the average income. It means that in Saxony-Anhalt exactly half of the employees subject to social security contributions earned less than 2855 euros, the other half more.

Nationwide, the median wage in December 2021 was 3516 euros. That was 661 euros gross more than in Saxony-Anhalt. However, the increase in the median wage between 2020 and 2021 in the state of 101 euros was higher than the national average of 89 euros.

According to salary statistics, dentists and doctors in medicine have the highest gross median salary in Saxony-Anhalt. In December 2021, this was 6628 euros, followed by teachers at general schools with 5705 euros. According to the information, the lowest monthly gross wages in the country in 2021 were paid in the area of ​​personal care, such as hairdressing and cosmetics, at 1545 euros and in gastronomy at 1810 euros.
