Saxony-Anhalt: Haseloff gives courage for the coming year in the New Year's speech

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) promoted confidence and courage in his New Year's speech. The war in Ukraine has destroyed certainties, Haseloff said in his speech, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk on January 1 and was previously available online. But the ensuing energy crisis also offers opportunities. Necessary transformation processes in society and the economy could be implemented quickly. "We have the right opportunities for this in Saxony-Anhalt."

The settlement of the US chip manufacturer Intel is on the right track, explained Haseloff. The whole country will benefit from it. Saxony-Anhalt is an attractive future location. This was shown by numerous investments in the country. Structural change in the coalfield is also in full swing.

Haseloff emphasized that important decisions will be made in the coming year. But major challenges can be solved by sharing responsibility. "That's not optimism."
