Saxony-Anhalt: High school teachers mostly reject working time accounts

Merseburg (dpa/sa) - In a survey by the Saxony-Anhalt Association of Philologists, 75 percent of teachers spoke out against a personal working time account and overtime work beyond the standard number of hours. With the standard number of hours of 25 lessons, the stress limit has been reached for many colleagues, the trade union for teachers at high schools in Saxony-Anhalt announced on Tuesday in Merseburg.

In the coalition agreement, the CDU, SPD and FDP agreed to introduce working time accounts for teachers. The aim is to secure the provision of lessons in schools. Teachers should accumulate overtime on a working time account and then, for example, be able to retire or take a break. So far, working time cannot be saved in the longer term.

According to the information, around 200 people and thus a third of the members of the Saxony-Anhalt Philology Association took part in the survey. The survey reflects both the age structure and the distribution across genders and status groups and can be considered representative.
