Saxony-Anhalt: history game in the open-air museum about old country life

Diesdorf (dpa/sa) - Guests of the Diesdorf open-air museum in the northwestern Altmark can experience how difficult, hard-working, quiet and idyllic life in the country was a hundred years ago. This is made possible by the group of performers "The Emperor's Old Clothes", whose guest performance in the museum begins on Saturday. Until Sunday, they provide authentic insights into life in the early 20th century. The dozen or so men and women travel from northern Germany to the Altmark district of Salzwedel in order, according to their own statements, to show "living history in modern times".

According to the district, they present reconstructed clothing and equipment based on historical models - some of them are even preserved in their original form. Visitors immerse themselves in the history game in the sewing room, in the post office, in kitchens, workshops and in schools.

The open-air museum in Diesdorf has existed since 1911. More than 20 residential and commercial buildings are presented on an area of around six hectares, which illustrate the culture and way of life of the people in the Altmark between the 17th and 20th centuries.
