Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The hospitality industry in Saxony-Anhalt is slowly recovering after the tough pandemic period. Nominally, the sales achieved in 2022 were around 35 percent higher than in 2021, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Halle. Taking price trends into account, sales were almost 27 percent higher than in the previous year. The hospitality industry includes the areas of accommodation and gastronomy.
In the first half of 2022 in particular, the price-adjusted growth was enormous compared to the same period of the previous year at around 62 percent. In the second half of the year, the price-adjusted increase was around six percent. According to the statistics authority, the level of growth was significantly influenced by the measures in place to contain the corona pandemic.
"Despite high growth rates compared to the previous year, the results from 2022 have not yet reached the level of 2019 again," said the statisticians. Adjusted for the price increase, sales in 2022 in the hospitality industry were almost 18 percent lower than in 2019 - of which 2.6 percent in accommodation and 20 percent in gastronomy.
