Saxony-Anhalt: Hour of the winter birds: Nabu invites you to take part

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - With mild temperatures, the Nature Conservation Union (Nabu) is calling for winter birds to be counted again this year. Between January 6th and 8th, birds should be counted for an hour at the bird feeder, in the garden, on the balcony or in the park and reported to the organization, as the Nabu state association of Saxony-Anhalt announced on Wednesday. The nationwide hands-on campaign "Hour of the Winter Birds" is taking place for the 13th time this year.

From a quiet observation spot, observers should note the highest number of birds per species that could be seen in one place at the same time over the course of an hour. Last winter, the house sparrow was counted most frequently in Saxony-Anhalt, as in the other federal states. The great tit and the tree sparrow took second and third place in Saxony-Anhalt.

Participants can pass on their observations to the Nabu via an app or by telephone, among other things.
