Saxony-Anhalt: In the event of an emergency: test alarm in Saxony-Anhalt as well

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt will take part in the nationwide test alarm on Thursday. At 11:00 a.m., all available systems to warn the population in the event of an emergency are to be tested. According to the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, there is a test alarm on warning apps, on radio and television and via sirens. The test warning should also be distributed via display boards and on trains.

This year, for the first time, warnings can be sent via the new warning channel Cell-Broadcast. A test message is sent to cell phones and smartphones via the cell phone network. The all-clear is planned at 11.45 a.m. on the same routes.

The aim of the warning day is to reach the largest possible part of the population with as little loss of time as possible and to provide them with information about the event. In addition, it should be a suggestion for all people to deal with the warning devices and the reaction in emergencies and disasters. There had been breakdowns nationwide on the previous warning day. In an emergency, people would have been informed too late and insufficiently about the acute danger.
