Saxony-Anhalt: Incidence in Saxony-Anhalt increased again

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt has increased significantly again within a week. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a value of 242.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days on Thursday. A week ago it was 194.5, two weeks ago 193.1. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 201.9 (previous week: 186.9).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

The health authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have reported more than 926,100 infections to the RKI since the beginning of the pandemic, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. 6046 deaths related to the coronavirus were recorded. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.
