Saxony-Anhalt: Left faction pushes for master plan for schools

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The left-wing faction calls for a master plan to secure school education in Saxony-Anhalt. Due to the shortage of teachers, the number of pedagogical employees is to be increased in the short term and a state program for school social work is to be launched. In secondary schools in particular, the need for teachers is enormous, said parliamentary group leader Thomas Lippmann on Thursday at the presentation of the master plan in Magdeburg. There are too few people interested in studying to become a teacher for this type of school. "We are hopelessly lost there," said Lippmann. The secondary school is no longer to be maintained as a school form. Secondary schools should therefore increasingly be converted into community schools.
