Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina calls for open-technology strategies in the energy transition in the interests of climate protection. "Transformation strategies are required that are designed according to the goals to be achieved (...)", it said in a discussion paper published on Monday. To do this, the attractiveness for private investments that contribute to the transformation would have to be increased.
In the paper, the scientists recommend closer European and cross-departmental development with regard to climate policy. The expansion of European emissions trading should be an important instrument "to create a uniform, transparent, long-term viable control framework that encompasses all emissions".
