Bernburg (dpa/sa) - A woman who has been missing since August 2021 has been found dead in a forest in Bernburg (Salzlandkreis). As the police announced on Tuesday, a human skull was found in mid-January in a forest near the Strenzfeld district. As a result, forensics specialists salvaged all other parts of a human skeleton near the site. A first trace of the woman's identity resulted from a comparison of the missing person's files.
The identity of the dead woman was then confirmed on Tuesday by means of a DNA report. Based on the investigations, the police have ruled out a violent crime. The woman has been missing since August 2021. With this, the police ended the search and search measures.
