Saxony-Anhalt: Man crashes into police officers with an e-bike: injured

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - A heavily drunk 50-year-old crashed into a police officer in Magdeburg with an e-bike and injured himself. The man was driving through an underpass at Magdeburg Central Station at high speed late on Saturday evening when an officer asked him to stop, the police said on Monday. Then he is said to have raced towards the police officer. The officer is said to have jumped to the side and grabbed the man, causing him to fall. The 50-year-old suffered a laceration above his eye as a result of the fall and received medical treatment. Meanwhile, he insulted the police officer.

A breath alcohol test showed 1.97 per thousand. The investigations into insult, coercion and drunk driving are ongoing. Several police officers were on duty at Magdeburg's main train station on Sunday evening for the football game between Hansa Rostock and 1. FC Magdeburg.
